Social and Educational Extended Day (SEED) & Lunch Programs

Welcome to Westpark SEED Daycare!

We want to take this opportunity to welcome all of you back and especially our new parents. For those of you who are not familiar with our SEED daycare policies and procedures:

Communication with you is essential in order to maximize quality service for your child/children. We shall be sending newsletters and memos periodically during the course of the school year. I have begun to post the SEED daycare’s newsletters on the Westpark SEED daycare website. Please refer to the “SEED daycare bulletin board” (situated on the wall beside the girls’ bathroom) for additional information concerning the daycare.

SEED Daycare Hours

Westpark has a large daycare of over 400 children, operating daily from 7:00am to 7:50am, during the lunch period (11:20am to 12:10pm), and from 2:30pm to 6:00pm, as well as on professional days. The program includes a snack time, supervised homework period, as well as many sports, art, and social activities.

Early Morning Daycare

Please take note that early morning daycare is ONLY available to students who are register in this program and begins at 7:00am Children in the early morning daycare MUST be accompanied by an adult directly to the daycare door. Please abide by this rule at all times. After 7:50am the children should join the other students in the school yard. When entering or leaving the parking lot, please ensure that you drive slowly and cautiously at all times. We do not want parents or staff “bumping” into each other.

SEED Daycare Staff

Let us introduce ourselves: Our staff is a group of dedicated and caring individuals whose priority is to promote a safe and caring atmosphere during the daycare hours. We are proud to say that they facilitate and promote a positive attitude as a team initiating an enriched and successful daycare program.

The SEED Daycare Staff wishes you all a great year!

Homework

The Homework Program begins the second full week of school and ends the first week in June. The educators responsible for the homework supervision are available to encourage and to assist, but the homework is primarily the responsibility of each child. We are not responsible for incomplete homework. Parents are encouraged to review the homework with their child/children. If a student is misbehaving or is disruptive during the homework period, he/she will be sent to the daycare office.

It is essential to maintain communication with the teachers and parents throughout the year to help your child if he/she is having difficulty coping with the assigned homework.

PED Days

It is the responsibility of the parents to inform themselves of any updated information regarding upcoming daycare events or ped days. Information is available to all daycare parents and is posted on the SEED daycare bulletin board. Ped day registrations are given when you pick up the children from daycare.

The PED Days operate from 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.

Early morning daycare is available ONLY for those students registered in the program.

In order to plan and book well in advance, we insist that the deadline dates for PED Day registrations are respected. We cannot accept any registration forms after the deadline dates.

Medical Forms

Emergency Medical Treatment Form: This form is necessary to complete for each PED Day your child/ren will attend.

SEED Daycare User Committee

This organization plays an advisory role and is chaired by the SEED Daycare & Lunch Programs Coordinator. It provides a forum for consultations and feedback. It is a liaison for all parents who use the daycare service. Its main focus is on the quality of the daycare services.
